When I was in high school I had a track and field accident that left me with some nerve damage on the right side of my body. This caused me to be unable to do any kind of exercise without feeling pain. The doctors told me that this would never go away because there were no nerves left to heal.
I hated exercise…
They also said that I should just learn to live with it. I developed a severe allergy to exercise, to say the least! Well, after several years, I decided to try something new, because I just wasn’t in good shape. My mother suggested that I start exercising again as she thought that maybe it could help.
She gave me a book called “The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Exercise” by Jack Canfield. In this book, he talks about the importance of stretching your muscles before you begin any type of workout.
He says that when we stretch our muscles we make them more flexible which means that they will work better during workouts. After reading his advice I began to practice yoga every day at home. It took me awhile to get back into shape, but eventually, I did.
During these years I continued to read books like “The Power Of Now“, “A Course In Miracles“, and other self-help books. These helped me to understand myself better and taught me many things about life.
One thing that really stuck out to me was the idea of living each moment fully. If you don’t live each moment fully then you miss out on all the good stuff that comes along with everyday life. Another important lesson from those books was the concept of surrendering control over yourself.
You can only truly let go of control when you realize that everything happens for a reason. When you accept this fact you stop trying to figure out why certain events happen and instead focus on enjoying whatever situation you find yourself in.
After learning all of this information I felt ready to take action. I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle completely.
